There will almost certainly be a Commons vote on extending Article 50 even if Theresa May gets a revised deal through Parliament. This is because the Government will need a short technical extension to deliver time for a Bill based on the deal.
But we believe that respondents to this question weren’t, by and large, thinking of this possible eventuality. Rather, they will have mulled an extension brought about without a deal – to avoid a No Deal Brexit on March 29, the cause for which Amber Rudd and her colleagues have been striving.
In essence, 71 per cent of those who replied want Brexit delivered on the due date – or at least that’s our reading of the answer. They will not be pleased with the Prime Minister’s U-turn last week on a possible delay.
